Lauren Humphries-Brooks is a writer, editor, and media journalist. She holds a Master’s degree in Cinema Studies from New York University, and in Creative Writing from the University of Edinburgh. She regularly contributes to film and pop culture websites, and has written extensively on Classical Hollywood, British horror films, and the sci-fi, fantasy, and horror genres. She currently works as a freelance copyeditor and proofreader.

I’ve been working as a freelance editor since 2015. I work with large and small publishers, editing services, and private clients, and have amassed a resume that includes fiction and non-fiction, genre fiction (romance, sci-fi/fantasy, LGBTQ+, and crime), academic publications, and film and television. I’m always interested in working with first-time authors and already established writers, people looking for an editor to just do that one final check, and those who want assistance crafting their manuscripts for professional or self-publication, or even just because they’ve always wanted to write a book. I am a writer myself, with a Master’s in Creative Writing from the University of Edinburgh. I believe that a good editor works for the good of the author, and I will work closely with you to hone your work.
